LAVENDER SPRITZ

I collected several sprigs of  lavender flowers  from my lavender plant in the back yard and put them in a bottle of 45 proof vodka for a week. During that time vodka became tinted reddish as the lavender oils seeped in to it. When I opened the bottle I was pleasantly surprised by the sweet scent of lavender. Well,  it was pretty strong so I decided to mix it with lemon-lime seltzer. It was like drinking liquid lavender with an amazing refreshing taste. I put one drop of blue food coloring in to my glass and achieved this color.I think it is worth trying at least once.

SUMMER COOLER

Wondering what to chill with in this heat I came up with this concoction. I don't know what to call it yet but my husband and I  found it to be delicious and refreshing. Try it..

Juice of  one  lemon
2 Jiggers of  dry Vermouth
Simple syrup,  about 1 cup
1 cup ginger ale
3-4 cubes of ice

Put everything in a drink mixer, shake well and pour through the strainer in to glasses. Add maraschino cherries and slice of lemon. Cheers....

LEMONCELLO:
I finally made "Lemoncello" .   Apparently with this drink there are variety of recipes of  how its made. It's taste  is mainly an individual preference. I offered it to my neighbors. While one neighbor said he enjoyed it  his wife was not so thrilled about it and the another neighbor said he wouldn't mind drinking it all night....  I love lemon in everything therefore this is just my kind of drink. Although my husband is not a fan of lemon flavor, he is getting used to it..

WEEKENDER

This week end my husband and I were chatting at our kitchen table and he asked me if I wanted to drink something. I asked what would he like to drink and he said "something to end the week...!" What would that be???  I guess it should be something  bitter and sweet to end the week. With that in mind  I went to our mini  liqour cabinet and came up with this "Weekender".

2 Shots of white Rum
Juice of one squeezed orange
Splash of Curacao
Splash of Grenadine Syrup
4-5 cubes of ice
1-2 drops of  Angustra bitters

Combine all ingredients in a shaker, shake well, strain contents into tall glasses and garnish with slice of orange and red Maraschino cherries. Salud.

DELICIOUS HOT CHOCOLATE

On a cold day's night what is more comforting than a hot cup of chocolate? It warms you all over. I like to make my own hot chocolate from scratch. Just boil some milk and add semi-sweet chocolate pieces in to the boiling milk. Whisk to melt the chocolate and voila you have the best hot chocolate ever. It is thick and foamy. For extra flavor I dip a peppermint candy cane in my cup to savor the taste.

SUMMER COOLER

I enjoy making this icy cold and non-alchololic summer cooler. It is a great thirst quencher on a hot summer day.

10 ice cubes
12 oz frozen limeade
2 cups gingerale
Juice of one lime

Combine all ingrdients in a blender, first on low speed then on high speed for 40 seconds. Pour into margarita glasses and serve with a slice of lime and maraschino cherry. Makes 4 glasses. For an authentic look the rim can be salted.
